Drinking well during pregnancy is crucial
Drinking the right fluids during pregnancy is essential for both mother and baby’s health. Here is the guide to provide helpful tips on choosing nourishing drinks like milk, tea, juice, and water to support your pregnancy journey safely and effectively. Remember to consult your doctor if you have any questions or unsure about what to drink!

Milk

  • Calcium source to support the growth of baby’s bones and teeth
  • Protein source to support cell growth and development
  • Fortified soy milk is a good alternative for non-dairy option

Tea

  • Limit the intake of teas which contain caffeine (e.g. some of the non-herbal tea)
  • Be careful on drinking herbal tea due to limited info available on the herbs and effects - consult the doctor and ask for advice

Juice

  • Make sure the juice is pasteurised to minimise the risk of harmful bacteria
  • 100% fruit juice can provide more fibre content and avoid added sugar
  • Mix blended fruits and vegetables with water / milk / yogurt to make your own smoothies

Water

  • As always, water is the default drink
  • Drinking plenty of water during pregnancy is important to help the body absorb nutrients, aids digestion and support the body functions
